Just did another upgrade of the wordpress software…
update again
November 16th, 2009upgrade and a few more catchwords
August 31st, 2009I’ve just started with my second day learning for CNII and the first day was really successful. I know alot more than yesterday about:
- Wireless and Mobile Networks including all Wireless Lan 802.11 standards and how mobile Networking is working in detail
- Multimedia Networking, applications and protocols concerning multimedia streaming and interactive streaming.
I also did another WP update today…
catchwords
August 30th, 2009hey there, my life is a little stressful at the moment, so I will just throw in some catchwords:
- I’ve just been on the Hacking at Random 2009 for a week, really amazing event! Photos coming soon…
- I’ve just become the new owner of ruehenbeck.org and my blog will move there as soon as I have my new Server.
- Now I am on my way starting a try to start learning for the Computer Networks I exam, 3 days to go, so I will now start to read and report how good this will work.
Have a nice day…
Chaos BBQ the aftermath…
July 23rd, 2009After the BBQ, I’ve spent the last 3 days in Bonn with my girlfriend with regeneration and getting well again.I slept nearly the whole time and was a little bit ill after all. I had pain in my brain and something you could hardly call slime
The last day of the BBQ was really nice. We arrived as always at 10 o’clock in the morning. The breakfast consisted of ham and eggs, and as if this was not enough, there was a really nice bit of everything yummy you can ever imagine for a breakfast. I felt like in heaven. Thanks for the really good breakfast to the CTDO and to Jankas Lokal.
The day continued with the visit of Joerg Tauss. When he arrived, he first played some manipulative games with most of the nerds, and some of the underbred nerds hang a anarchist banner in the room. Tauss began with playing on his handy, twittering and with a laptop on his table, which should make him be sympathic to the nerds. It was obvious that this couldn’t have another sense than this, because he didn’t have a single look at his laptop during the whole talk.
He began his talk with an exculpation about his recent child porn affairs and they sounded a little paranoid in the beginning, but later they seemed to fit really good. It was a little disappointing, that most of the talk time was wasted with this topic, not least because of the ignorant nerds making him talk about it again all the time. I left when he finished his main talk about the political aims of the german piraten partei, because some political discussions began with some kind of local politican, nobody seemed interested in.
In the end, I think I am in the position to be able to estimate how much of the things Tauss talked about are hot air and which are realistic. But I think there is no other possibility to vote for my interests as good as for the german Piraten Partei. So I don’t want you to vote for them, but think about what you elect instead of them. If you are not going to vote for anybody, vote for them, they will need it!
After a few hours after the talk we decided to hang out in the labor for the rest of the day. We went to the main station, only to notice that our train would leave in 40 minutes if we took the slow one or in 45 minutes if we took the fast one. So to bigger part of our group decided to chill out in the sun and take the faster one. 45 Minutes later on the platform, we could only see the slower train leave, and read the notice that our train would be about 20 minutes late.
After we reached the labor, I was a little grumply and I noticed how tired I was. So I played a few rounds of tetris with our new laborant and after that, I made myself confortable in a nice armchair in the labor and doze off for a few hours. When I returned home, it was 8 pm and I thought I could not sleep that early. After 5 minutes I was asleep in my bed. I woke up at 10 pm, switched off my pc and went down again. Slept until 12 am and traveled to my girlfriend, just to get ill and sleep a few days to get well again. Now I’m back at Bochum and enjoyed the really exhausting meeting to oranise the labortage, a similar happening to the ctdo bbq in the end of Oktober this year in the labor.
Time to sleep, I plan to do alot of stuff tomorrow. Learning, blogging, and programming some webpage stuff. Maybe write the new wikipedia article of the labor e.v. So good night, good fight…
Chaos BBQ Day 2…
July 18th, 2009The night started promising, when I just finished my last post here, I went to bed and tried to sleep. After 2 hours I switched the tv back on, because I wasn’t able to sleep. So I watched tv, and tried again another hour later. At 6 o’clock I went up again, and the night was over. I had no sleep and as a result of that I started the day horribly tired.
After I met another two geeks from the labor we boarded the train to Dortmund and arrived there shortly before the breakfast. We went up to the capboard and woke up all the sleeping nerds, which made them mumble a little bit. Shortly after, we met the waitress of the restaurant in the front house, who made breakfast for all the nerds. It was really tasty, there were 3 types of butter, delicous cold cuts and melon slices. Jummy!
At the moment, the talk I was listening to is paused, and I think I wont return there. The lecturer had a little too much slides for the talk, so that all the new things are too much to assimilate. I will listen to the rest at the labortage, the central event in Oktober this year in the Labor.
Now I will start to setup a vpn gateway on the labor main server. We just decided, that we do not want to trust the whole network and the free wireless network.
More to come later…
UPDATE: Two minutes after this Post, I got to know that the Workshop “Hack the Sun” would start shortly. The workshop started with a few people sitting around the kitchen table and getting instructions from Seppo, the entertainer, how to build a “Grätzel Cell“. After a few minutes really alot people who came late joined us and had to watch and listen, because there was not enough space for everybody to tinker. After a half hour, we had two types of these cells finished, one made of the materials which were planned, and one with some cheaper materials to test them out. After all, the ones with the cheaper materials didn’t work at all, the “original” cell made 0,3 V when we put a 60W bulb directly over it. We wasted alot power and it was really fun….
The rest of the evening continued unexitingly and we returned to the labor at eleven o’clock to chill out until 1 am. In the end I decided not to sleep in the labor, because dr4go, a mate of mine didn’t want to go home alone…
Chaos BBQ at Dortmund
July 17th, 2009I’ve just arived at the Chaos BBQ, some kind of hacker meeting, hosted by the Chaostreff Dormund. Im sitting now here, right besides of all the people from the Labor in Bochum. We are all drawn together with our laptops on a beer table in a snugly yard which we share with a little beer garden in the house in the front.
I love to be on hacker meetings, because everything seems to fit perfectly. The feeling, the ambiance and all the interesting people around. More will come soon as soon as here happens more than normal hacking all together.
UPDATE: I’ve just returned home, and I will go to bed as soon as I have finished my blog. I decided to sleep at home, because a fellow mate I am really fond of, took me back to Bochum in his car. As a result of that, I can try to get rid of my illness by sleeping without beeing disturbed by fellow hackers in the Hackerspace in Dortmund.
The Evening was really exciting, I met alot of interesting people, some I didn’t see a long time and some I had only heard of since now. Additionally we were amused by a mate of the CTDO with a presentation of his Tesla coil, which was alot more powerful than the one, one of the members of the labor owns. I also didn’t forget to do some advertisment for the labor, and maybe some of of those I threatened, will join us in future. I hope so.
Now its time to go to bed, so that I can join them at CTDO on 10 o’clock am for beakfast… Good Night
Upgrade and back up again….
July 14th, 2009Recently my Wordpress Autoupdate failed, and this blog went offline until I found the time to fix this issue. Now the blog is back online and has been updated to the most recent version.
Mass news…
May 9th, 2009Long time ago…
…I wrote the last Post. Since this time a lot happened, so this Blog post will be longer than ever before. One of the reasons might be that I’ve been really ill for a few days, which made all the nerds I know make jokes about the “swine influenza”, another that I’ve been really busy doing all the stuff I do, or basically nothing at all. The text might become a little theatric, because I’ve just returned from the cinema watching the last Star Trek Movie. Lets see…
Star Trek
I wasn’t really exited about the new film to appear in the beginning, because the last Star Trek film “Nemesis” didn’t achieve the ecstasy I was expecting. But after the first time I saw the trailer a few minutes later in youtube, my enthusiasm began to grow. Finally the film reviews made the time to wait insufferable. Although I wanted to see the Film really badly, it took a few days until today to find the time to watch the film in a cinema like it appertains to a film of that groove. My girlfriend demanded to accompany me and so we started to the cinema.
Now, after I am back I can only tell you that I really enjoyed watching this film. There has never been a better Star Trek film than this. And I know them all. The film makes me speechless, and all I can say is: Go, and watch this film, don’t watch it from the internet, don’t wait for the DVD to come out! This needs a cinema!
In the end my girlfriend, who makes me really proud because she likes to join me to watch a filme like that and what makes her really “nerd-compatible”, told me she sensed the film boring. Which brings me to the question, if you can really enjoy the story and the amazing universe “painted” around the story, when u don’t know the Star Trek Universe at all. Maybe a weakness… So maybe I will ask my girlfriend to watch the hole of 14 films with me. May be a few seasons “Enterprise” and “Voyager”? Maybe everything else too, so if u read this honey be warned!
Lets dread!
A few weeks ago, my little brother joined me and my parents during our coffee klatsch (yes this word really exists…) which we hold every two weeks when I stay with my girlfriend in Bonn. He reminded me of the idea I had since months to make dreadslocks out of my hair. He made one dread although I was a little scared in the beginning, it looked quite nice. One week later I stayed a few days in Bonn, to make the rest of the dreads, which took alot longer to finish that we expected. After four days of dreading, all seasons of “My name is Earl” which are out at the moment and really alot paint, we were nearly finished. Two days later the weekend I described in my last post took place, and we made another two dreads. The last were made the weekend after in Bonn again. Now im every day called “Rastaman”, “Tingletangle/Sideshow Bob” (the one from the Simpsons TV show) and also “Reagge Olaf/Gandalf” and the creativity of my fellow men has no end… I also recognize, that everywhere I go, I attract attention with this hair. But after the second time I washed them since the 4 weeks I wasn’t allowed to make my hair wet, and finally, that I set them in fire with a candle today, they need some attention. They need maintenance…. So thats what I’m going to do the next days and tomorrow in the train.
No Math since weeks…
Finally I have to admitt that, against all promises, I didn’t do really much work for my math in this term until now. I strong-willed to do every exercise and everything else to do in this semester just in time. But in the end the opposite happened against my own will. I’m unconcentrated if I try and I’m spending alot of time in the Labor with things making me more happy than math. This week I didn’t do exercise number three and I’m resolute to change it this week. Wish me luck…
… and watch that movie!!!
Same procedure as every year…
April 14th, 2009The last weekend of the holidays started promising. My brother, my cousins (and roomies) brother, my lovely girlfriend and my cousins brothers girlfriend, agreed to visit me during the easter days. They stayed the whole weekend and we had a great time. A few crates of beer later, with barbeque and really a lot fun, I bid them farewell and they left on Monday noon.
Totally struck by the last days, I decided to chill out a few hours in the Labor and used the rest of the day for some administration and a few really interesting conversations while having a club mate or two. I left the next morning at half to 1 am and returned home. My last action before going to sleep is check my calendar for things to do the next day, which made me aware of the beginning term tomorrow. I had nothing done, and nothin thought about this, so I had to finish my time table before going to sleep, just to notice that I had to stand up really early to attend the first two lectures of the term. This was today, in the morning at 8:30 am, and I felt horribly tired, until the math lecture started.
Its interesting to see how many people have good intentions when the new term begins, and much more interesting is to see how fast they discard these during a few hours. One of the students I met this morning told me proudly he just had decided to work harder, to prepare for every course and to do everything to get going. This was at 9 am, at 10:30 am, he bid me farewell, telling me totally convincing that he would waste his time in the math lecture and could do it all more efficiently by learning at home. As I know him he wont, and he wont do the math exam this year too, sadly I have to say this. Its also impressing how much students, much older than me, still attend the lecture… I thought I was really slow studing, until I saw the student behind me with a beard as long as his legs…
Nonexistent time vanishing suddenly …
March 29th, 2009The last days I noticed again, like a few times before, that you can, more or less effective, “create” time. If I’m aware of nasty work which is to do, I often think about how much time I have left to do this, never expecting, that I could be wrong, without looking in my calendar. After the dead line has come closer a little bit, I begin to do the work, and suddently I notice, that there is just one day of time left, because I thought, in this case, the exam would be on friday, expecting to friday to be the last day of the month. I think my mind wants to trick me, because it wants to block out the knowledge about this. I think I will have to keep my brain under close control….
…the exam is on tuesday, and I’ve got to learn as hard as for the last exam. A few days after the foregoing exam, I decided to use all the time available to work for this one, so that I have to do the fewest work possible every day. So this is the result… I started learning on friday, learning in the train, learning the whole weakend at my girlfriends desk, and decided to leave another hour earlier than I wanted before. After the arrival at the station at 4 pm, I noticed that it was already 5 pm, because the clock change on this Sunday night. So another hour “vanished”.
Now I’m sitting in front of my desk at home. I’ve just finished reading the few pages about semiconductors the second time, and will now start to correct the exercise I did in the train last friday. All this wouldn’t have been necessary, if the course would have been held correctly, which is not really the case, and if I would work a little more precisely. I hope that I will think about this in the future, …
The course is held by Dr.-Ing. Claudia Bock and its called Grundlagen der Elektronik. I visited it last year, and I’m totally convinced, that it is not structured correctly, not made for students to learn, but to learn that they don’t know anything at all, and the clou is, Mrs. Bock doesn’t seem to notice how extremely bad her course is held. Often she is standing in front of the course, wondering why nobody does understand what she is talking about, smirking and beeing happy like a little child, that now she can do her own course… She does, but is not really cappable of teaching. Most of her students will try again this term and I think most of us will fail again because she keeps beeing convinced, that all those bad results, are the students faults. So I hope somebody will tell her how to do it the right way, or all the ITS Students are doomed for another few years. I can just advice to buy the Book by Reinhold Pregla: “Grundlagen der Elektrotechnik”, which is a perfect replacement for Mrs. Bock and her gnomes, although semiconductors are only treated on ~20 pages…. another sad fact.
